Pekka Paloheimo

CEO, Partner

I am one of the founders of the company. Previously I have worked as a consultant, sales director and a freelance journalist among other things. Just Before EPECC I worked as a senior consultant in Mercuri International Ltd. My customers were from different business fields and I helped them to develop their management and sales processes. I ams Eero`s son and has thus grown up together with the theory of Ecocity. I also have a bit of an extraordinary connection to the global ecology; I have bicycled from Nordkapp to Gibraltar, from Los Angeles to New York and walked across the Australian continent.

Olli Salmi

CTO, PhD

I hold a PhD in civil engineering and an MSc in process engineering. My specialty involves sustainable urban planning and life cycle modeling for industries as well as municipalities. At EPECC I have been in charge of our Mentougou EcoCity project in China as well as our Ecocity Evaluator software development. Prior to joining EPECC I worked as a senior scholar and part time professor in Environmental Engineering, developing carbon footprint assessment for heavy industries and impact assessment of environmental policies. Topi Tiihonen

Senior consultant, M.Sc (Civ.Eng)

My name is Topi and I work in EPECC as a senior consultant. My career started in the early 2000s doing research on climate change and urban hydrology. After this I started to gather up more project experience and worked for three years in a global consultancy firm as a civil engineer, stormwater expert, GIS expert, Project manager and application developer. From my first projects as a civil engineer I’ve been driven by the urge to study the most sustainable and natural solutions for my designs whether it has been a pumping station, flood structure or a water management scheme for a city. I might not have always given the permission to do the design “my way” but because of my enthusiasm towards sustainability I have adopted a certain approach to designs and in general everything I do. I feel that this is the most important factor why I’m part of this great work community today.

Timo Tolvanen

Consultant, technology student

Timo specialises on energy systems for communities. In Timo’s view finding sustainable and eco-friendly solutions to meet our ever increasing energy demand will be one of the greatest challenges of mankind. For Timo participating in the planning of Mentougou Ecovalley has been a fulfilment of many dreams. Timo’s studies at the Aalto University School of Engineering are nearing completion.
